Introduction - February 2003

Hi, and thanks for taking the time to visit our website – a project we've all had a hand in and which Ruth is managing admirably for us. Regretfully we are not the best at keeping in touch, so are taking this opportunity to bring all our friends up to date with what’s going on in our lives.

If you were directed to the website by an e-mail promising 'news,' you might have an inkling of what that news is. Yes, we're on the move again.  Only this time, we're going 'home!'  Mike's accepted a position with the Bank in London, starting at the beginning of April.  So, after  two and a half very enjoyable years, it's goodbye to the blue skies, turquoise waters and hot sunshine of the Bahamas, and hello again to Good Old Blighty.  We'll be sad to leave the friends we've made here, but glad to be nearer the rest of the family. And we have a lot of lovely memories to take away with us.  Take a peek at the Bahamas pages, and you'll see what we mean.

The plan at the moment is to have a small 'pied à terre' in London for Mike during the week, while Hazel makes the house in Halifax 'home base,' from which to shuttle between London and the folks in Scotland.  That plan may be modified as time goes on, but it's a start at least.  We're looking forward to having more of a family life again.

Mike's position is as COO for the Private Banking Division in London and Jersey, helping to co-ordinate the on- and off-shore business in those locations.  There will be some travel and Hazel is looking towards accompanying him on the occasional trip to Jersey so she can meet up with old friends.

John's trip to Tanzania seems a long time ago now and he is progressing admirably in his chosen profession and recently successfully completed his first set of professional examinations.  The job entails more travel than he initially envisaged and he is frequently on the road which adds to the variety and enjoyment of the position.

Ruth is within the final reaches of her stay at Bradford University hoping to graduate over the summer.  The small amount of free time permitted by studying is split between Bradford and the Midlands where her boyfriend, James, lives and works and where she is hoping to join the ranks of the employed later in the year.

So, from the end of March, our Nassau address and contact numbers will be 'passé.'  Please use the Halifax address, UK phone numbers or the e-mail links to keep in touch with us. We love to hear your news – and promise to reply! Meantime, we send our very best wishes and hope all is well with you and yours.
